What is your secret recipe for life?
I like to look at life as a kitchen. You have your bulk foods like meat and bread (primary goals), seasonings (secondary goals) and recipes (the proper combining of the elements in question). But how do you arrange your secret recipe to life if you do not have a recipe to begin with? Allow me to teach you how to design life so you can reach success.
Pick Out Your Meat
First step: figure out your primary goals, or pick your meat. Just like in a restaurant, you test the various cuts of meat; you never just grab one! You have to make sure you are getting what you are paying for, and in this case it is a matter of figuring out what your goals are in life. Are you looking for a thick cut of meat, representing a good career? Or do you wish to have a simpler chicken breast, where little assembly is required?
Just like picking out your meat, you have to be careful not to strive too high to start. If you don’t know how to prepare a steak, start with chicken! If you have seen many goals throughout your life, perhaps it is time to move onto the thicker slab of steak or veal. Remember, you are only as good as your seasonings, or secondary goals.
Gather Your Seasonings
Now that you know what your primary goals are, it is time to reach secondary goals. What is a secondary goal? Well, a primary goal is basically a long-term goal for life. Perhaps you want to be a doctor, or you want to get married…the larger it sounds, the heavier the meat will be. Secondary goals are smaller goals that fit inside of the bigger ones.
Example: your primary goal is to become a doctor in 5 years after college. You obviously have a number of seasonings to take part in. One may be school; another may be an internship. There is no perfect way to order your seasonings, or your primary goal. Just remember that in order to prepare your final product, you will need to know what seasonings to cook with.
Have Your Recipe
Remember, you are at a supermarket. You can always go back, but why not have everything ordered and prepared? This is why you may want a recipe. When I was in school, this recipe was called a “road map,” and was meant to facilitate the proper pathway to move when looking to achieve a goal. So, bring your recipe with you. Bu what if you don’t have one?
It might be time to look online or to ask someone what the best route to your end goal (a seasoned steak) is. That way, you can simply walk into the supermarket, find all of the necessary provisions easily, and return home so you can cook. But if you don’t have one, you can always try and guess!
Get To Cooking!
Once everything is gathered, it’s time to cook! In this sense, you let life make its motions, and you follow your recipe to a tee. That way, you are guaranteed success. Now, this does not mean you will always succeed. Sometimes the steak is simply no good, or you over-prepare something. Big deal! Start over! Just remember to keep returning to your recipe, and you will be just fine! If you need help, contact me!
